Remembering the boys of Srebrenica

Only twenty years ago, in 1995, the Bosnian Serb army massacred over 8,000 boys and men in Srebrenica. On this page you can see what about 2,000 of them looked like earlier in life. The scrolling goes on and on, photo after photo of killed boys and men, making the genocide feel extremely close and real. There is much to read about this tragedy, but I will not force it on you. Instead, let’s remember these poor boys and teenagers who are not with us anymore, murdered by the Bosnian Serbs simply for being boys (instead of girls) and belonging to Muslim families. There are unfortunately many, many, many more, but these boys who I scrolled by first will have to represent all of them.
